Dating back almost a millennium, this vast wool embroidery spans the centuries, illustrating the Conquest of England by William, Duke of Normandy. A comic strip as such, it will transport you back to mediaeval times in the midst of Vikings boats and Norman knights. New exhibition room and new film. Unaccompanied visit or with an audioguide. Audioguide tour for the Tapestry (available in 14 languages).

Visit lasts : from 1 to 2 hours.
Open all year round , 7/7 days. Closed on the 2nd week of January and on 25/12 and 01/01.

Bayeux has preserved the old historic centre with its medieval structure. Its exceptional architectural heritage emerged unscathed from the Allied bombing raids of 1944. Solemnly consecrated on 14 July 1077, in the presence of William, Duke of Normandy and King of England, the cathedral later underwent all kinds of extensions and embellishments from the 13th to the 15th century.

Guided tour of the cathedral and Bayeux old town at 3 pm every day in July and August.

The Hôtel du Doyen presents part of the art and history collections of the Baron Gérard Museum (Bayeux porcelain and lace, paintings) in the form of temporary exhibitions.

The "p'tit train" (little train) invites you to explore the old part of Bayeux, its historic monuments with a visit to the Battle of Normandy Museum (stopover for visit on request), Military Cemetery and British Memorial.
