In 1741, a coal seam was discovered
in Littry, the prelude to 200
years of intense industrial activity
in the peaceful village. The Mine
Museum recounts this mining activity
: ancient tools, a fire engine of
the Périer brothers (1800) unique
to France, reconstitution of a mine
shaft, a model of the Bruay no. 5 pit,
archaeological pits, etc... New for 2008: personal audio-guides for the entire site.

Chocolate comes halfway round the world before arriving deliciously in our mouths. You can share in its journey at our museum. Learn about its history from the first revered cocoa trees of the Mayas to the arrival of precious cocoa beans in Europe ready for turning into an array of delights. Through the window bays, you’ll be able to see drakkars being made, chocolate sweets, moulding and apples into Calvados. Our home-made products can be found in our shop.
